Garmin U.S.A. App Reviews

I am a fan of Garmin devices and have recommended them to friends. I stopped using my stand-alone Garmin Nuvi when the Garmin app came out for the iPhone when I had a iPhone 4S. App worked great. It continued to work well with my current iPhone 6+. The latest version of app that came out this week with change in app color from blue to yellow created a mess. It crashed every time I tried to open it. I called Garmin and was told to download it again. I downloaded it again and LOST YEARS of locations stored in FAVORITES. Garmin said there was no work around for this problem. I went into iPhone and copied Garmin file stored in iTunes from backup made before new Garmin app installed. I restored iPhone but no help. I re-entered some favorites and now today message is to downloaded new version that gets rid of bug causing problem. NEW PROBLEM: I did as instructed and now newly entered FAVORITES are gone! What a mess! If one elects not to save FAVORITES in Garmin cloud, does this mean that FAVORITES always will disappear with upgrades of app and maps? Extremely disappointed in Garmin. There should be a way to save FAVORITES on personal computer and move into app if such a problem occurs. With previous stand-alone Garmin, I always could save FAVORITES on my computer and move to a new Garmin stand-alone device. I would appreciate a response from Garmin. Thanks. As of 3 November update (v2.11.1), works great again on iOS 10—launches quickly with no more crashing. Thanks for the quick fix!

With the recent update Garmin USA is working just great on my iPhone 6+k and iPad Air. It works just fine on my iPad Pro but it still doesnt expand to fill the whole screen - wish it did that but it is far from a game breaker. I am back to using this as my primary automotive navigation system. I only have two suggestions... 1. As I said before, expand the USA window to fill an iPad Pro screen 2. Many modern nagivation systems will present you with three possible routes (fast, short, alternate). It would be nice if Garmin USA did this. But, it is still great and works like a charm now!

Update great. However, will not let you set home location. Each time you select home it gives you four options instead of allowing you to just click and go directly to your home

In GPS MOde ON THE ROAD, I hear a beep from iPhone & GPS reverts to iPhone home screen. Happens repeatedly. App is now useless.

When I first purchased the Garmin App 4-5 years ago it was a fairly stable and good app with some minor issues that were mere annoyances. These latest updates however are garbage. Not only did the app not work when the first update rolled out causing a complete uninstall and reinstall in order to get it to work but afterwards it caused my phone to randomly just start rebooting itself out of nowhere!!! Now a couple of days later and another update to the app to fix the first disaster of an upgrade and we are right back to the uninstall just to get the new version to install. Then the map updates dont download correctly causing you to have to restart them multiple times. You should be paying people to use your app now not charging them $50-60 for it (or whatever it costs now in the App Store). Do you even beta test this crap before you put it out!!!!

Dont buy this useless i get loss every time . Not accurate on the road. I want my money back:(

Must be a bug, cause I cant download any extra vehicle icons. They wont load on the preview page either. Only one does! VEHICLES ICONS ADDITIONAL VEHICLE CHOICES..... STILL NOT LOADING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had some bugs on the new iOS ver. But got fixed quick. I take this everywhere, and as a frequent traveler I prefer this over native map apps as it does not use data! (You can download all the maps). In fact I used it in places where I have no cell phone and it works great. Also it will alert you for red light cameras (in their database). If you travel for a living this is a must have app. As a software guy, I know it is hard to keep up with changes that Apple makes (seems like every week)! Garmin is doing good jump keeping pace with Apples frequent changes.

With patch from Garmin putting it back in operating state. Now here comes upgrade to iOS 10. Anybody load 10.1.1? If so any effect on Garmin USA?

I installed the update which fixed the crash on start issue. Observations. The app is sluggish building the route now. I also had a problem where the app crashed about 140 miles into a trip. Once this occured. The app was no longer stable. I had to hard boot the phone to resolve this. It feels like garmin isnt interested in these apps. They seem to treat it like they must offer something. What they fail to realize is i have multiple devices from garmin. They should not short change smartphone users. Its a gateway app to more hardware sales.

When Traffic option is ON, GARMIN crashes iPhone SE

This is my third review since the last major update. I have installed, deleted and reinstalled and the app continues to crash every mile or so. This used to be awesome, now it is essentially worthless. Nothing like driving in an unknown city and having it continually crash. Please, please fix!

I have always Garmin products to be superb having bought their earliest versions of GPSs. I cant say the same for their iphone app which i originally purchased several years ago and recently upgraded to the latest iteration. First it is difficult to download the maps because every time phone goes into "sleep" mode and I reenter the map, it starts all over. I did manage to finally download it successfully. When i picked a simple route to office it kept crashing. Further it could not find my address which other apps easily found. Third it used car audio system but most of the verbal direction was cutoff or inaudible. Very disappointing. I am going to hang in there hoping they will correct these glitches as i want it because it does not require downloading maps in non cell areas. I also spent 19.99 for the traffic but if course cant use that.

after the last update i lost all my maps and i have tried several times to download the 2+ gigs of maps etc... and it continues to fail. I AM DONE WITH THIS APP!!!

The app constantly crashes and is now useless. Reinstalled as suggested but still does not work.
